Padernello is a little rural village with only 89 inhabitants under the municipality of Borgo San Giacomo in the province of Brescia (Lombardy).
Padernello is located in the middle of the so-called Pianura Padana and easily reachable by car from the most important cities and areas in Lombardy:
- 25 km from Cremona,
- 30 km from Brescia,
- 50 km from Lodi,
- 60 km from Piacenza,
- 60 km from Garda Lake,
- 80 km from Mantova,
- 80 km from Milan.
During the Roman Empire, the whole territory around Padernello had been divided in regular parts, called centurie, given as gifts to retired soldiers.
The little village rose around the Castle during the Middle Age in a land between two important rivers, Oglio and Mella.
Nowadays, the economy of this area is still based on agriculture and livestock.
